Eigen Risico is back! After having left a path of destruction, charcoal and paint throughout the clubs of the Netherlands Hector Garcia Martin AKA Hache has spent the better part of the last year crafting his most serious work to date. “still illegal shit: demasiado malo para ser mentira” his 3rd self produced album is a meditation on what can only be described as a series of crazy events in an even crazier year squats, evictions and court trials the man has experienced it all.

More focused than ever in terms of sound the album still contains all the hallmarks that we have come to know and love such as lo fi production and haywire sample manipulation. Tracks such as Devil May Care show a more structural approach towards his sonic fever dreams whereas aprendre a lamer exemplifies a more tender throughline found throughout the album. The album features a colourful cast of co conspirators such as Gift Unsteady and Popprophet who features on the track Milkshake a hilarious romp that will leave you giggling as if you’re a teenager listening to a skit on a mixtape for the first time.

still illegal shit: demasiado malo para ser mentira is a great piece of work signaling a new era of serious chops coming from one of Groningen’s most talented artists. This is an album that can’t be ignored and definitely shouldn’t be missed from a rap fans tape collection.
